FRATERNAL GREETINGS TO THE BRETHREN OF THE CRAFT, WHEREVER DISPERSED
It is with humility, gratitude, and a deep sense of solemn duty that I address you as the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Antient Free and Accepted Masons of South India.
To be entrusted with the custodianship of this august Grand Lodge is both an honour and a responsibility—one shaped by the wisdom of our Past Grand Masters and sustained by the unwavering commitment of the Brethren who labour in the quarries of the Craft.
My years of service as Grand Secretary, alongside six Past Grand Masters over a continuous period of twelve years, and my close association with senior Brethren and former custodians of this High Office, have afforded me a profound understanding of the responsibilities, traditions, and continuity that define Masonic leadership. With their blessings, counsel, and fraternal support, I stand assured that the Grand Lodge of South India is firmly anchored in its principles and resolute in its purpose.
After more than three decades of dedicated Masonic labour, our institution stands mature, resilient, and forward-looking. Amidst changing times, expanding opportunities, and evolving challenges, GLSI is well positioned to marshal its human resources wisely, strengthen its foundations, and advance steadily upon a path of enduring growth—both in substance and in spirit.
Our Lodges reflect the diversity and universality that are hallmarks of Freemasonry. From unique Lodges such as Mahakavi Bharathi Avai, the only Tamil Lodge under our obedience, to Lodges united by shared interests and fellowship, the living adaptability of the Craft is clearly evident. The practice of multiple Masonic Rites, including AASR rituals such as Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité, and the conferment of higher degrees within the same institutional framework, offers Brethren a comprehensive and enriching Masonic journey. Regular initiations across our Lodges continue to blend experience with enterprise, ensuring vitality, balance, and renewed dynamism.
Our strong fraternal association with the Grand Lodge of Upper India and the formation of the United Grand Lodges of India have further strengthened our standing within the global Masonic fraternity. Through Amity with numerous Grand Lodges across the world, and through reciprocal visitations and mutual recognition, GLSI occupies a position of honour, harmony, and respect among the family of regular Freemasonry.
As we look toward the future, I am confident that with committed, experienced, and principled Brethren in our ranks, the Grand Lodge of South India will continue to preserve the Ancient Landmarks, uphold the timeless values of the Craft, and embrace progress with discernment and dignity.
I extend a sincere and personal invitation to worthy men seeking Light, and to Brethren everywhere who value tradition, moral rectitude, and universal brotherhood, to walk with us in this noble endeavour. This is a time to bring forward men of character—offering them not merely membership, but a lifelong journey of self-improvement, moral refinement, and personal transformation.
FREEMASONRY IS TIMELESS.
IT IS UNIVERSAL.
IT IS BROTHERHOOD.
And it is with pride, confidence, and conviction that I affirm its living expression within the Grand Lodge of South India.
WITH BROTHERLY LOVE AND FRATERNAL REGARDS,
M.W. Bro. Muthukrishnan Nagarajan
Grand Master
Grand Lodge of Antient Free and Accepted Masons of South India
