Lodge Mahakavi Bharathi Avai, distinguished as the world’s first Masonic Lodge to conduct its proceedings in the regional language of Tamil, marked a historic milestone with the celebration of its 100th Lodge Meeting on 3rd September 2025.
This momentous occasion stood as a proud testimony to the Lodge’s unwavering commitment to preserving cultural heritage while upholding the timeless principles of Freemasonry. The Centenary Meeting was solemnly and grandly conducted in the true spirit of the Craft, reflecting harmony, enlightenment, and fraternal unity.
Adding grace and intellectual brilliance to the evening, the Lodge had the honour of hosting the renowned speaker, Bro. John Peter of Bharathi Pasarai, who delivered an inspiring and scholarly discourse on the life and legacy of Mahakavi Subramania Bharathiar. His eloquent presentation, rich in patriotic fervour and philosophical depth, befittingly elevated the significance of the occasion.
The celebrations were further enriched by a gala dinner, wherein Brethren and their spouses joined together in an atmosphere of fellowship, warmth, and shared joy. The presence and participation of families reinforced the spirit of unity and mutual respect that forms the cornerstone of Masonic life.
This centenary gathering shall remain etched in the annals of the Lodge as a landmark event—symbolising progress, cultural pride, and steadfast devotion to the ideals of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth.
